WATERWAY TOURS

There is something so tranquil about water, as it flows and meanders through the countryside which makes it such an attractive backdrop for a tour. Somewhat ironic given the very existence of canals in particular, is owed to the industrial age, a time not particularly associated with rest and relaxation!

Today Britain’s rivers, streams and canals, no longer the arteries of commerce, are the settings of amazing wildlife habitats and great beauty where you can relax and unwind.

While our Waterway Tours are circular, not all of their distance is necessarily at the water’s edge, a necessity if we’re to get you back where you started!

As with all our other tours, you have complete freedom however, and can start from any point on the route and travel in either direction, but please do ensure you have permission to park if you choose not to use an acknowledged public facility. For example, pub car parks are not for general public use, they are reserved for patrons.

As these walks are situated in the countryside getting to them by public transport is rarely an option (for further details see About Walks).

Please remember to adhere to the Countryside Code, full details can be found here.

In brief it’s designed to ensure that the public respect, protect and enjoy the countryside.
